How to Grow your own Avocado Tree

If you want to grow an avocado tree, just follow these easy rules and steps.

  • First, you should remove the large seed, from the avocado. Wash it and let it dry.
  • Take 3 or 4 toothpicks and put them into the seed. Then put the seed over a glass of water.
  • Make sure that you keep it in a warm place. Also, it is very important that you maintain the water level.
  • In the following 2 – 6 weeks, the roots and a stem will sprout from the seed. When the stem reaches a height of 6 inches, you should trim it in half.
  • Once the stem starts to leaf, you should transfer the seedling into a pot, which contains loose and sandy soil.
  • Water it lightly and frequently. Also, keep it in a sunny place.
  • Every time the stems grow another 6 inches, pinch back the most recent gown leavers. By doing this, you encourage the plant to grow more and to be much fuller.

If you live in a warmer climate, the avocado tree can survive outside, during the summer.

Easy and Delicious Avocado Recipes

These avocado recipes will give you a completely new meaning to your breakfast, lunch and dinner. They are easy to make, but tasty as hell. Enjoy!


Greek Avocado Toast

For these recipe, you will only need 10 minutes of your time.



  • 2 avocados (remove the pits)
  • 4 slices of sourdough bread, toasted
  • 1/2 cup of crumbled feta
  • 1/2 cup of halved cherry tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup of chopped dill
  • pinch of crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 cup of chopped kalamata olives
  • 1/2 cucumber, chopped
  • kosher salt
  • 1/2 lemon
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Extra-virgin olive oil, for drizzling (optional)



First, remove the skin from the avocado halves. Place the avocado in a medium sized bowl. Take the lemons and squeeze the juice over the avocado. Season the mixture with salt and pepper. Mash the mixture. Taste it and add more lemon juice, salt or pepper if needed. Spread the avocado mixture over the toast. Top it off with the kalamata olives, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, feta cheese and dill. Add a few drops of olive oil.

The Avocado Dip

This recipe also takes 10 minutes to prepare and is an excellent choice with homemade tortilla chips.



  • 2 avocados
  • 1 cup of frozen spinach, drained and chopped
  • 4 oz. of cream cheese
  • 1 cup of chopped canned artichoke hearts
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tbsp. of fresh parsley, plus more for garnish
  • kosher salt
  • crushed red pepper flakes



Remove the skin and pits from the avocados. Mix it with cream cheese, garlic and lemon juice. Mash it well, until the mixture is smooth. In a medium bowl, scoop the mixture and fold in the parsley, artichoke and spinach. Season it with the kosher salt and the crushed red pepper flakes. Top it off with more red pepper and parsley.

Bacon Avocado Bombs



  • 2 avocados
  • 8 slices of bacon
  • 1/3 cup of shredded Cheddar



Preheat the oven. Remove the pits from the avocados and peel off the skin. Fill in the avocados with the shredded cheddar and put the avocado back together. Wrap them in 4 slices of bacon each and place them on a baking sheet. Bake them for 5 minutes, or until the bacon becomes crispy. Then, carefully flip them over and bake it for 5 more minutes. Serve it immediately.


California Grilled Chicken



  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 slices of avocado
  • 3/4 cup of balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp. of garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp. of honey
  • 2 tbsp. of extra-virgin olive oil
  • Balsamic glaze, for drizzling
  • 2 tsp. of Italian seasoning
  • kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 slices of tomato
  • 4 slices of mozzarella
  • 2 tbsp. sliced basil



Take a smaller bowl and whisk the garlic powder, balsamic vinegar, Italian seasoning, oil, honey, pepper and salt. Add the chicken breasts and let it marinate for 20 minutes. Grill the chicken breasts at medium heat, until the internal temperature reaches 170ºF. Top it off with avocado, tomato and mozzarella and cover the grill. Grill it for 2 minutes or until the mozzarella starts to melt. When you remove it from the grill, drizzle some balsamic glaze and garnish it with basil.

Cowboy Caviar



For the dressing you will need:

  • 1/3 cup of extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. of hot sauce (such as Cholula)
  • 3 tbsp. of chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/3 cup of lime juice
  • 1 tsp. of kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp. of cumin

For the salad, you will need:

  • 1 avocado, chopped
  • 1 cup of corn
  • a cup of black beans
  • Corn chips, for serving
  • 1 cup of black eyed peas
  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 2 orange bell peppers, chopped
  • 1 cup of cherry tomatoes, quartered



First, make the dressing in a small bowl. Whisk together the hot sauce, olive oil, cilantro, lime juice, salt and cumin. Then in another bigger bowl mix the rest of the ingredients. Fuse the mixtures from both bowls and enjoy this delicacy.


Breakfast Avocado Burgers



  • 1/2 avocado, thinly sliced
  • 4 slices of cooked bacon
  • 1/2 lb. frozen hash browns, make sure that you squeeze out all of the excess water
  • 1/2 lb. of ground beef
  • 2 slices cheddar
  • 3 large eggs, divided
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • kosher salt
  • Ketchup, for drizzling



Mix the egg with hash browns in a medium bowl and season it will salt and pepper. Over medium heat, spray a large nonstick skillet and place 3 jar lids. Add the mixture in two of them and press it, so that you will form a patty. Crack an egg in the third one and season it. Cook it, until the hash browns are crispy and have a golden hue, about 3 minutes per side. Repeat it with the rest of the hash browns and the egg.

Now it is time to make the burgers. Take the ground beef and season it with salt and pepper. Form it into patties, in the size of the jar lids. Cook it for 5 minutes per side. Top it with cover skillet and cheddar and cook it for 2 more minutes. Once it is all cooked, it is time to assemble the burgers. On a plate, place the hash brown and add some ketchup, then top it with the burger, fried egg, bacon, avocado and the hash brown bun sandwich.

Avocado Pesto



  • 1 lb. spaghetti
  • 2 avocados, pitted
  • 1/4 cup of almonds
  • 2 cups of Fresh basil
  • 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 cup of grape or cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/4 cup of olive oil
  • kosher salt



Follow the directions on the pasta package and cook the spaghetti. Put aside one cup of cooking water. Over a low speed, blend the avocado, parmesan, basil, lemon zest and almond, then season it with salt. Make sure that the blender is running slowly and drizzle the olive oil. If you think that the pesto is too thick, add some water from the pasta, until the mixture has a nice consistency. While the spaghetti is still warm, toss over the pesto and add the tomatoes.

Avocado Ice Cream



  • 4 avocados, peeled and pitted
  • Zest of 2 limes
  • 2 tbsp. of coconut oil
  • 1 cup of maple syrup
  • 2 cans coconut cream
  • 1 cup of lime juice (about 4 juicy limes)
  • 2 tsp. of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 lime, thinly sliced into quarters, for garnish
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt



Blend all of the ingredients, except the lime slices, until the mixture is smooth. Pour it on a loaf pan and garnish it with the lime slices. Freeze it for at least 3 hours. Enjoy
