Fight Club

Directed by David Fincher and starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton. This film gives even the most amazing thrillers a run for their money, hence, making it one of those very best itself. One of the best features is the fact that there are no sci-fi, supernatural, or even fantastic elements involved into making it a very mind-fuck type of a movie. So, if you like watching thrillers, where the psychotic goes beyond skin deep and doesn’t have an already worked out character, then this great psychological thriller is a must see!

Inception

Yet another movie by Christopher Nolan, a recent psychological blockbuster thriller, in a collaboration with Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and a whole bunch of other top notch Hollywood actors. The plot steps away from reality, in the literal sense. The whole movie revolves around dream states and a very well thought out concept and bend of the laws of nature. It is no wonder that it’s one of the top grossing movies of all times, as well as a very popular cult movie you might well be fully aware of.

The Sixth Sense

M. Night Shyamalan is a very accomplished mystery/ thriller director and with Bruce Willis as his main character, it’s no surprise that The Sixth Sense was a booming success. The movie itself borders on the supernatural and even steps into it, twisting and turning its story, so that it confuses you and draws you in. When you are at the height of your curiosity and delight, it will drop a bomb the scale of which you have never seen before! Quite honestly one of the best psychological thrillers ever made.

The Prestige

Christopher Nolan! Yet again! But there is more, Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale are starring in this movie. Yes, Wolverine and Batman go toe to toe trying to outdo each other at magic! The story is stupid-good and the final reveal is mind-boggling. Even if you found every other moment of the movie to be the dullest moments you’ve ever experienced, the final 5 minutes will definitely be worthwhile, no question about it. It is awesome and it is thrilling and if you haven’t seen it, then you truly cannot consider yourself a fan of psychology thrillers movies.

Oldboy

This is a crazy good Korean movie. The story and content altogether is good, ingenious and even fresh, that Hollywood made their own remake with American actors. One of the best things about this movie is that it is action packed, it is weird, in a good way of course, it is heart touching and brutal at the same time and a good time all around for all the movie fans out there. Definitely one of the top ten psychological thrillers of all time, the original, Korean version of course.

The Silence of the Lambs

Starring Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins, and directed by Jonathan Demme. The Silence of the Lambs is a very peculiar crime thriller, which is a huge cult classic from 1991. And not only popular for its own artistic value and psychological insight, but it truly takes us on a very unique thrill ride. A thrill ride unlike any other and it will remain in your memory forever and might even haunt you on a darker afternoon. After all, it is counted among the best psychological thrillers ever with a good reason.

The Shining

Directed and produced by Stanley Kubrick, and based on a best-selling novel by Stephen King, this movie is more like a representation of chaos of mystery and danger in which the actor Jack Nicholson takes the main role, and very successfully at that. Filmed in 1980, The Shining is one of the oldest and definitely one of the most successful thriller movies of all time, gathering an enormously huge fan base and producing a lot of very famous movie quotes. This movie though is more of a scary psychological thrillers category kind of movie rather than just make you think outside the box kind of movie.
